The article forms the methodological framework of forensic linguistics - area that has a dual scientific basis (philological and stricter legal). At the general theoretical level, we analyze the restrictions stemming from legal principles and rules, and reformulate them into philological ones. The necessity of drawing up a passport of the forensic linguistics method is substantiated, the structure and content of the passport are described. Formalization of methods is a necessary stage for the creation of general forensic linguistics methodology.
