The article shows that, despite the tendency to universalize protection against social risks, the largest amount of guarantees in this area belongs to employees as insured persons. The status of an insured person is derived from the status of an employee, since the implementation of protection under compulsory social insurance becomes possible after the person enters into an employment relationship. The main element of the status of the insured person is his rights, and they provide the main protection against social insurance risks. It was concluded that certain obligations enshrined in legislation can be characterized as having a similar target orientation.
