The key emotional concepts in the novella "Dying" by the Austrian writer of the XX century Arthur Schnitzler - "fear", "mental suffering", "despair" have been established. The status of the key concepts is determined by the ideological content of the work. Perceptual-figurative signs of these concepts have been revealed. In respect to the concepts of "fear" and "mental suffering" individual author's perceptual-figurative signs have been revealed. The dominant way of the verbal embodiment of the concepts of "fear" and "mental suffering" in the novel is represented through the designations of these concepts, whereas the concept of "despair" is mainly verbalized in an explicative way.
