The article refers to a particular case of interaction between the Ministry of the Imperial Court and Appanages represented by the Main Administration of Appanages in settlements with contractors for the reconstruction of the Livadia estate complex in 1910-1911. The author on basis of the archival materials studies the entire course of consideration of the application of contractors I. Kholoptsev and M. Ryk for additional payments. The author points out that officials ofthe central office of the ministry, who used the financial reports of the local Livadia-Massandra appanage administration, played a decisive role in solving this case. The article notes how gradually, step by step, the Court Department went to reduce the possible surcharge, transferring as a result much less than the originally named amount. Thus, the ministry, without fundamentally refusing contractors, sought to limit its spending on reimbursement of funds lost by entrepreneurs.
