The article dwells on audio description as a tool of expanding the scope of media accessibility for the blind and visually impaired. Audio description is a verbal description of the visual elements that are nor accessible to the recipients of audiovisual content with visual impairments. Audiovisual products present a series of semiotic codes that are transferred via the visual and audial channels, with much information transferred via to the visual channel, and is inaccessible to visually impaired people, thus requiring verbal description.
