The article discusses information about Serbian-Turkish war of 1876 in the Sydney Morning Herald, largest Australian newspaper of that time. Despite the objective difficulty to obtain up-to-date information, this paper tried to apprise readers of international situation and gave news and analytical materials received from foreign newspapers and telegraph messages. Particular emphasis is paid to following subjects: sympathies for warring sides, estimation of the great powers’ positions regarding the Balkan conflict and assessments of Russian foreign policy activities.
