Abstract
The article analyzes Russian historiography on the problem of the moral and psychological state of the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad in the most difficult period of its course - in the winter of 1941-1942. The author reveals the peculiarities of covering the blockade depending on the political situation in the country during the Soviet period and compares the main provisions of the works of Soviet and modern researchers. The analysis showed that the coverage of the problem of the moral and psychological state of Leningraders in Russian historiography at the initial stage of its formation was ideologized: the researchers informed exclusively about the moral stamina of the population, while the topic of manifestation of social deviations was tabooed. Another peculiarity was the emphasis on the role of state structures in helping Leningraders. Over time, already within the framework of the historiography of the Soviet period, there was a gradual departure from the set canons in the coverage of besieged Leningrad. It is typical for modern Russian authors to refuse to hush up the problems associated with the life of the population in the conditions of an overstrain of their moral forces. At the same time, it was revealed that the process of internal psychological decay of a personality was stopped by a society that generally preserved traditional spiritual and moral norms and did not allow the process of dehumanization to acquire a dominant position in the besieged society.
