The article presents a meaningful definition of destructive content as a kind of harmful information localized on the Internet. The relevance of this study is justified by the growth of negative information and psychological impact on users of social networks, which negatively affects the state of various spheres of security of our state. The results of the study are reflected in the author's classification of content, in accordance with its impact on the implementation of socially useful goals and objectives of public administration; administrative and legal characteristics of destructive content, its toxic and illegal varieties; expansion of theoretical ideas about the types and content of harmful information, as well as in determining practice-oriented criteria for attributing information to destructive content.
