The influence of the pragmatic context and the role of the recipient in the interpretation of polycode texts is investigated. The study was conducted within the framework of an interdisciplinary approach using the methods of pragmatic, contextual, logical and semantic analysis. Using the example of the interaction of heterogeneous polycode texts in the perceptual organization of the figure-background, the change in the content of interacting elements under the influence of a number of factors functioning as interpetants is demonstrated. The specificities of the interpetants and competencies (linguistic, pragmatic) of the interpreter make possible the variability of interpretation of polycode texts, demonstrating the assumption that meaning is a relational phenomenon.
