Currently, as a result of the development and strengthening of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China in various fields, there is a growing interest in the Russian language in China. It is important to note that in China there were both periods of rising interest in the study of the Russian language and periods of decreasing popularity of the Russian language, which was due to geopolitical and other extralinguistic reasons. Teaching Russian as a foreign language in China has been going on since the beginning of the eighteenth century, which allows us to speak about the accumulation of sufficient methodological and practical experience in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language in China. This article attempts to present the experience of teaching Russian as a foreign language at the Shanghai University of Politics and Law.
