Abstract
The results of a sociological study of the interaction of the main subjects (schoolchildren, teachers, parents of schoolchildren) in a modern secondary school from the point of view of generational and age differences are presented. A generation is defined as a social group united by similar values and behavioral patterns formed on the basis of experiencing common significant social events at a similar age. Schoolchildren are assigned to one generation, opposed to the "older" generations. Differences between generations are assessed by the following parameters: hierarchy of values, subjectivity, involvement in the process of digitalization. The study is based on quantitative (data from the World Values Survey) and qualitative data (a series of semi-standardized interviews with employees of Nizhny Novgorod schools). Quantitative data were used to identify differences between generations, qualitative data were used for their meaningful interpretation in the context of intra-school conflicts. Universal values are revealed (the place in the hierarchy of values of all the considered generations is similar), as well as specific ones (the place in the hierarchy of values is statistically significantly different). As a significant difference that can complicate interaction, a lesser degree of subjectivity and involvement in the digitalization process of older generations are also highlighted.
