The article is devoted to the reaction of Russian public opinion, using the example of leading periodicals of all directions, to the introduction of a constitution in Montenegro in December 1905, which coincided with Russia’s turn to constitutionalism. The historical roots and prospects of Montenegrin reforms are noted. The reaction or its lack of the right-wing and liberal press of Russia to the changes that took place in the Slavic principality is considered. Particular attention is paid to the evolution of the position of Slavyanskie Izvestia , which closely followed the development of Montenegrin constitutionalism in 1905-1907.
