The article deals with the description of cultural semantics of language signs. The issues of cultural semantics are addressed in the light of differential-integrative processes of modern linguistics. Two main approaches are considered: structural and anthropological. Theoretical and methodological ways of their possible convergence are studied. The paper provides the basic notions connected with the interaction of language and culture and highlights the main ways of the development of the research of the cultural component in the language signs semantics. Close, however not identical, notions - “cultural information” and “cultural semantics” - are distinguished. The focus is on the research of cultural semantics and the hierarchy of language signs which possess cultural semantics. According to the hypothesis, there are two types of signs with cultural semantics differentiated according to their connection with axiologically significant senses of culture. To describe the peculiarities of the embodiment of the cultural semantics into the language semantics, precedent language phenomena and phraseological units are studied. The focus is on the experimental research of cultural semantics as applied to the Russian phraseological unit Евина дочь / дочь Евы (Eve?s daughter / the daughter of Eve).
