The article considers the issues of the state port control implementation in the Russian Federation in relation to the protection of health and labor safety for water transport workers. It is noted that state port control is based on the norms of international and national law, implying the protection of health and labor of workers and their social security, safety of navigation. The system of state port control in the Russian Federation is represented by two areas: in merchant shipping and on inland waterways. The international nature of port control and the possibilities of informatization of this area make it possible to take into account the results of control of Russian vessels in foreign ports. The author's analysis of the results of state port control for 2010-2023 made it possible to identify the main violations that increase the risks of threats to the health of water transport workers, as well as make proposals for improving public administration in the area under consideration.
