Today information technologies are firmly established in the life of society and the state and are increasingly used in the process of their interaction. Objective: to consider the experience of using information technologies in the procedure of organizing and conducting elections in the Republic of Abkhazia and foreign countries. Methods: generalization, comparison, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction. Main results and conclusions: the article notes a low level of use of information technology in the process of organization and conduct of elections in the Republic of Abkhazia. Three main stages of digitalization of elections are identified, advantages and disadvantages of the use of information technologies in the course of organization and conduct of elections, as well as positive and negative experience of their use in foreign electoral practice are formulated. It is concluded that remote electronic voting can jeopardize the basic principles of election administration as well as personal data of voters.
