Abstract
The article is devoted to the linguacultural analysis of the archetypal images of the bear and the dragon / ? and ?. in the perception of Russians and Chinese. It is considered how the zoomorphic image of the bear is formed as a special cultural code in the Russian picture of the world, and the image of the dragon becomes iconic for the Chi-nese. The meanings of the lexemes-representatives of the aforementioned images are analyzed; the semantic fea-tures of the proverbs, phraseological units with the components "bear, dragon" are studied. Based on the texts of fiction, the linguistic means of actualizing these images are identified; they are compared among representatives of both nations, the reasons for the existing ethnocultural differences are indicated. It is concluded that, despite the dominant role of the image of the bear in Russian culture and the image of the dragon in Chinese, they are both present in the compared pictures of the world, being multifaceted and ambivalent. It is emphasized that, unlike in Russian linguistic culture, in Chi-nese the lexeme "bear" is rarely used in evaluative judgments. In turn, the image of the dragon-snake in Russian culture has a pre-dominantly negative connotation, which is explained by stereotypes formed both in Russian mythology (Zmey-Gorynych) and in Christian teaching (The Serpent).
