The article is devoted to some problems of relations between the Third Reich and the Turkish Republic after the signing of the German-Turkish Treaty of Friendship and the German attack on the USSR. The German plans for the future fate of Turkey and its place in the “new Europe” planned by the Nazi elite are considered and analyzed. Spotlight is turned on the differences in the approach of the head of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ambassador in Ankara to solving the Turkish problem. The main tendencies of the bilateral negotiation process on issues that arose as the military situation in Russia and the Middle East developed are traced. The Turkey’s position and its attitude to military actions conducted by the Axis Powers near its borders, as well as to the requests and proposals of the Germans are also examined. An assessment of the effort results of German diplomacy at this stage is given results at conclusion.
