The article is devoted to the study of lexical means of objectification of the concepts of PATIENCE and TOLER- ANCE in the Russian language. The purpose of the work is to identify and describe the basic cognitive features of the analyzed concepts in the aspect of comparison based on the data of a psycholinguistic experiment. The main research methods are the method of definitional analysis, the field method and the method of conceptual analysis. The analysis of the results of the associative experiment allows us to draw conclusions about the similarities and differences in the content of the basic layer of concepts relevant to the consciousness of native speakers of modern Russian. The conducted experiment reflects the prevailing ideas about patience as a human quality and tolerance as a social skill, which are necessary for comfortable communication. At the same time, patience is represented by the results of the experiment, including as a trait of national character, and tolerance as a foreign cultural phenomenon.
