The purpose of article is to give a thorough analysis of realias phenomena, including their multivarious classifications presented in literature. Much of author’s attention is given to realias definition agenda, stressing the difficulties that come up during the process of their classification and following Russian translation. Jane Austen novels have been chosen as a basis for the research: they are analyzed in the context of the pretextual analysis that helps to elicit cross-cultural differences and difficulties translators may face. Through the use of this analyses the author flushes out the translator’s decisions key highlights connected with geographical realias and aphorizes the most typical and effective methods for various types of realias which is attributable to their peculiar characteristics and the context. Therefore the article make a noticeable contribution to understanding the difficulties of translating geographical realias and imports the ways of their solution for achieving the most exact and culturally adequate translation.
