The article analyzes the ways of translating into Spanish the lexemes included in the lexical-semantic group «Subjective evaluative characteristics of a person»: «kind», «evil», «vile», «polite». The above analysis testifies to the lacunarity of these lexemes in the Spanish language, since their unambiguous translation is not found either in the novel or in Russian-Spanish dictionaries. It is concluded that in order to identify lexical gaps o lacunaes, it is necessary to use both explanatory dictionaries and translations of fiction, which are vivid examples of word usage and are capable of demonstrating the lack of certain lexical units in the target languages.
