Abstract
We have studied the reaction of prooxidant - antioxidant system of Pisum sativum sorts with different ABA levels on short-term salinization (200 mM NaCl during 15-120 min). Plants with higher ABA level appeared to be more stable to the salt shock. Leaf cells of these plants did not contain the final product of lipid peroxidation, malonic dialdehyde (MDA), and the plants were characterized by high activity of the main antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX).
