For many centuries, the idea of immortality has been based on religious faith. Nowadays, it has acquired a scientific and technological dimension and is proposed to be considered the highest good for the humanity. The idea of immortality expresses the process of substituting life for reason; in the extreme case this will acquire the form of artificial intelligence. The state of immortality is another name for post-human forms of nootechnospheric reality. Man's survival requires the cultivation of restraints on the ideology of immortality and the ecology of «living death».
