This article presents an overview of the instructional system for teaching physics to university students on the basis of their cognitive styles and preferable ways of coding educational information. It also gives the results of the pedagogical experiment on introducing the instructional system into teaching practice. The aim of introducing the instructional system is to form in the students with various preferable ways of coding educational information the skills of transforming physical information into different forms of presentation. This will contribute to improving students' style mobility and broadening their cognitive abilities, providing more comfortable training conditions and as a result to improving the effectiveness of the educational process in physics.
