The author has analyzed the causes, forms, consequences and types of conflicted interaction between generations
in a family. Some theoretical approaches of modern Russian sociology and the results of the authors own empirical
studies are discussed. Practical recommendations on prevention and settlement of such conflicts are also given. The
analysis presented in the article is of importance for sociological science and social policy, because this problem is
seldom and only fragmentarily studied in Russia, although it is of considerable practical interest.
