An increase of glutathione S-transferase (GSH) activity in erythrocytes and plasma of patients with metabolic syndrome has been detected. It is possibly connected with qualitative changes in the content of the GSH pool. Most donors with metabolic syndrome have shown a failure in reaction progress in erythrocytes and plasma. In cases of additional plateau appearance, there possibly exist two GSH isoforms in the system. After the correction of metabolic disorders, most donors studied have shown normalization in the activity of the plasma and erythrocytic fractions of the enzyme, and some changes in the reaction progress.
