The interrelations between ancient states of the Northern Coast of the Black Sea and neighbouring barbarian tribes, the Scythians first of all, are of significant importance showing the emergence and development of new political structures at the periphery of the antique world. The interrelations between the Scythians and the Bosporan Kingdom, the largest ancient state in the Northern Coast of the Black Sea, are most important in this respect. The analysis of sources reveals the friendly character of the political interactions and ties between these two formations. Eventually, it has resulted in an attempt of the newly formed Scythian elite to seize the power in the Bosporan state.
