Lycians were an important part of the Greek and the Near Eastern worlds, living at the point where the two cultures
intermingled. The evidence for Lycian history is patchy, therefore it seems important to pay special attention to
the antique tradition. In the Iliad, the Lycians figure as the most prominent of Troys allies. They were involved in
the conflict with Rhodes. This fact was mentioned in the Homeric tradition. The article is focused on the causes of
this conflict. |
