| The belief in immortality of soul has gone a long way from animism to serious philosophical doctrine. Ionian
scientists explained the nature of soul in material terms. In mystery cults, in particular Dionysism and Orphism, the
soul got an important religious meaning. In studying the subject more closely, Plato and his followers declared the
immortality of soul. |
