| The article presents a synchronic description of colloquial means for representing the categorical meaning of
personality. The Early Modern English 1st and 2nd person pronouns are regarded as the centre of the functionalsemantic
field of personality. Their distribution is viewed as a result of the interplay of many factors characteristic of
the period. Main attention in the analysis is paid to the pragmatic implications of the specific speech situations. |
