Abstract
The general notion of biocrystallomics as a synthetic science of biogenic crystals is given together with the description of its initial stages of formation, development and current state. Biocrystalloscopy methods are classified on the basis of published materials and authors own studies and the place of chromocrystalloscopy (a method, based on cocrystallization of bio-substrates and tinctorial substances) among them is pointed out. Possible options, peculiarities and prospects for the use of this method are considered in detail. Potential application areas of chromocrystalloscopy are identified. Some possible pitfalls of the method and the ways to overcome them are specified on the basis of authors own data and critical analysis of those published elsewhere.
