Abstract
A new approach to the development of competition environment is revealed. It involves economic mentality as one of the factors of competition ability. The terms «competition ability», «competitive advantages», «competition environment» are defined concretely. The term «national economic mentality» is rendered more precise by supplementing the ideas about correlation between principal features of Russian mentality with main ways for improving competition ability. Some measures aimed at the utilization of competition potential of strong mentality features are proposed.
