| This paper discusses literary referentiality of Saul Bellow’s works and his reception of Dostoyevsky as illustrated
by Bellow’s early novel, Victim. Analysis of specific reminiscences and their nature, leitmotivs and plot devices
reveals typological similarities in the contrasted texts, while emphasizing fundamental differences imbedded in
the national concept systems. |
