The paper examines the problem of stability and variability of social stereotypes. The author shows that the content
of social stereotypes (e.g. stereotypical attitudes to men and women) is changed if additional status of a stereotyped
object is marked (e.g. its ethnicity).
When analyzing the content of respondents attitudes to Russian men and Russian women, the author demonstrates,
first, their essential distinctions from the traditional content of gender stereotypes, second, their variability
depending on the context of social relations.
