Abstract
The role of modern mass media is studied as that of mediators between the audience and reality. Mass media is oriented on the playful, Ѓnon-seriousЃ format of the relations with reality, and this relationship becomes a part of the audiences environment. As a result, both the audience and the environment turn into a phantom, a fictitious symbol.
