An in vitro experiment has been carried out for metabolic syndrome patients to study the impact of different ozone concentrations on the glutathione-S-transferase activity and oxidative modification of blood plasma proteins. Low therapeutic ozone doses most favorably influence the enzyme activity showing a reliable reduction. This is possibly related to the decrease of the enzyme substrate due to the activation of antioxidant and detoxic systems. There has also been a decrease in spontaneous and induced oxidative protein modifications. The most significant decrease was found for solutions with ozone concentrations 0.65 mg/l and 0.33 mg/l.
