233-238 | Ancient Rome, historical thought of the antiquity, factors of history, Cassius Dio Cocceianus |
Cussius Dio in his «Roman history» frequently refers to human nature, which was considered by him to be the most important factor of historical progress. This approach is typical mostly of the books devoted to the regal and republican periods, while in the rest of his work Dio attracts readers attention to virtues and vices of Roman emperors rather than to some universal features of human nature. |
