Abstract
The optical images of the Indian Ocean obtained from the spectrometer MERIS - Envisat, 26.12.2004 have been analyzed. A dark strip near Rangoon has been discovered whose position, form and the time of observations are consistent with the known model calculations of the tsunami wave fronts and coastal observation data. The anomaly has been shown to be probably related to the changes of small-scale wind wave characteristics due to the tsunami passage.
