| The potential of the nomenclature concept for the study of regional political elites is analyzed against the
background of the transitological approach and the elitist theory of democracy. As an example illustrating this
concept, elitogenesis in the Nizhni Novgorod region in the post-Soviet period is considered. In the framework of the
study, the author elucidates the role of the nomenclature and the Komsomol segments in the political elite of the
region and in this connection points out several stages of elite formation at the local level. |
