Abstract
The article analyzes the specifics of the functioning of public relations in government authorities and state administration as exemplified by the work of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representatives office in the Volga Federal District from 2005 to 2008. We consider the most important communication technologies for interaction between the authorities and the media illustrated by the example of the regional insert to Rossiyskaya Gazeta. Some interesting empirical data are presented to illustrate the principles of political communication of public authorities highlighting peculiarities of information work with the press. Some important conclusions are made regarding the specific features of the Volga Federal District Presidential Plenipotentiary Representatives positioning in the regional media scene.
