| Until now, Chekhovs play «Ivanov» has not found uniform interpretation and understanding in literary criticism
and on stage. This article is focused on the problem of versions of the play. As a result of textual research, it is now
possible to draw some conclusions about the stages of the writers work with the text, and also to establish the exact
number of the play's versions. Following these conclusions, the existing perception of the entire history of the play
may be changed essentially. |
