The paper examines the causes and the time of appearance of the so-called ridge helmets in the late Roman
army, borrowed from the eastern enemies of the Roman Empire. The author concludes that this borrowing was
widespread in connection with the military reforms of Gallienus, Aurelian and Diocletian. |
