A common technique for assessing a persons second language ability in terms of measurement is considered. The
tag of a measuring sample for assessment (MSA) is given to practically any kind of test. With the help of MSAs varied
second language competence features that are naturally attributively different and uncoordinated are checked out.
Common academic practice, however, proves that the subsequent aggregation of the obtained results into an entire
picture is not only insufficiently objective but is also inadequately substantiated. The article presents an innovative idea
of assessing second language competence that relies on application of homogeneous entities whose quantifiable
representation is compatible with the veritable idea of measurement. |
