The results on the formation of metal nanoparticles of gold (Au MNP) in amorphous germanium dioxide thin
film samples are presented. The films were implanted with multicharged Au ions (at an average energy of 160 keV
and the fluences of 5.1015, 1016, 2·1016, 4·1016, 5·1016 and 1017 ions/cm2) and annealed at the temperatures
of 200-800оС. Optical absorption spectra of the implanted samples display typical absorption bands related to Au
MNP formation in the matrix. Parameters of the Au MNP have been estimated in the framework of the Mie theory.
