Serum levels of sHLA-I and sHLA-DR has been determined by ELISA sandwich method in patients with
severe traumatic brain injury and healthy volunteers. sHLA-I level was significantly increased in non-survivors
during the whole period of their stay in the clinic and in survivors during the first 3 days compared to the volunteers.
Simultaneously, a decrease in sHLA-DR level in the patients with severe traumatic brain injury versus volunteers was
observed during the whole period of their stay in the clinic. The number of HLA-I+ lymphocytes in all patients was
significantly increased during the early posttraumatic period.
