Abstract

The article presents an analysis of achievements and prospects of genetic engineering of plants. Special attention is given to the risks connected with the production of transgenic plants and consumption of foods containing genetically modified organisms. Main legislative acts regulating the creation and industrial application of genetically modified organisms are given.
