The initial level of physical development of the first year students at the Arzamas Medical College, as revealed in this
study, limits the possibilities of getting high-grade professional education and has a negative effect on overall state of their
health. It follows from the analysis of the body mass index dynamics that the first year students show little interest in their
physical health, but by the fourth year of studies, the indicators of their physical development improve essentially. This may
be due to new medical knowledge and experience they have gained, and it can also be regarded as a result of application of
the organizational model for building health saving educational environment in the college.
