The main functions of the dative case in Indo-European and Turkic languages are the designation of the addressee
of the action and the direction of the motion; however, in synthetic and analytical languages the paradigms
of the dative case have their own peculiarities in any particular manifestation. The principal distinctions concern the
government of the dative case by verbs, nouns, adjectives, and prepositions, what shows that these phenomena do
not have a universal character. |
