The article deals with Lyapunovs f-moll Sonata. This Sonata was unfairly buried in oblivion for a century. Sergei
Lyapunov, the Russian composer of late 19th - early 20th century, is considered to be a dedicated traditionalist.
On the contrary, in this Sonata he showed his innovative spirit. He developed an existing sonata form by creating a
new structure for this major complex solid work. The Sonata shows Lyapunov's new symphonic conception of the
piano. |
