A model of ladder structure formation in persistent shear bands (PSB) under cyclic loading has been proposed.
Computer simulation of dislocation ensemble evolution shows, that the ladder structure of PSB is formed under the
influence of mesodefect internal stress fields arising at the interface of PSB and matrix in the process of deformation.
The PSB structure consists of alternating opposite-signed dislocation walls aligned perpendicular to the primary slip
plane. The distance between the walls correlates with the dislocation-free channel width in the matrix.
