The author considers two features characteristic of the 20-th century art trends - impressionism and cubism - in
Thomas Hardys «Fellow Townsmen». The plot of the novelette, the way its elements are assembled, and the exposure
of the authors activity in the text are a kind of anticipation of some traits of cubism at the very early stage of its
formation. |
